About Armed Force Recognition Luncheon
For 33 years, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce has joined with the business community to recognize and honor American service men and women assigned to units in Aurora and the Denver Metro area. This prestigious event, coordinated by The Chamber Defense Council, not only recognizes the growing number of active duty service members here, it also reaches out to those who serve in the National Guard and the Reserve. The event includes an award ceremony for our Military Persons of the Year-11 individuals who have been selected for their outstanding achievements over the past year.
The 2009 Armed Forces Recognition Luncheon was held on May 15, the day before Armed Forces Day. The Northrop Grumman-sponsored event kicked off with a formal flag ceremony and was hosted by popular KEZW Radio personality Rick Crandall who also heads the Colorado Freedom Memorial project in Aurora. For the first time the event featured full A-V coverage sponsored by Lockheed Martin, ensuring the record crowd was able to follow all the activities of the event.
